We have some major news for you about the Company in this newsletter, as well as our regular updates on current performances and projects being undertaken; news which should help to clarify the reason for - and maybe even justify - the regrettable lack of updates in recent months...!
We have now completed the last of
our Summer shows this year, and despite having the most erratic and unpredictable
weather conditions in the company's history, with varying combinations and amounts
of wind, rain and blazing sunshine (sometimes within the same show), we managed
to complete each show without stopping - albeit with some inventive improvisation
and enduring humour! We have been rewarded by the good attendances and by the
positive feedback recieved, from children and adults alike.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:-
For the first time in the 15 year history of the company, Openwide Theatre have stopped taking bookings for performances, until April 2010.
Openwide Theatre have reached a point where in order to expand and make the most of the goodwill and resources accumulated, we need to focus on the administration and fundraising tasks that cannot be done while performing and touring - which has funded our productions so far. With the support of our trustee's, we intend to concentrate our resources on the consolidation of the company itself, as opposed to working on a new production.
Openwide Theatre Began as a company in May 1995, became a company limited by guarantee in May 1999, and in December of that year also became a registered charity. In that time we have toured over 2300 performances, and have created 9 productions - 7 of which remain in our repertoire.
We have had the good fortune to perform in some amazing venues, in the gardens of big stately homes as well as parks and public gardens, and in a diverse range of theatres large and small, in arts centres, libraries, and of course, many schools; several of these Venues have booked us 4, 5 and 6 years in a row.
We have been lucky in finding ourselves working amongst a group of very talented, dedicated and hard-working people, whose wages consist to a major extent of the countless complementary comments and references of goodwill that are recieved from those who have seen the work that we do
We would like to thank all the people who have booked us so far, and the hospitality of so many of them, and all the people who have helped and supported us over the years; all the adult audiences who have been so appreciative, and of course we should also thank the young audiences who make it all worthwhile, with their enthusiasm ... and their honesty!

We would be very interested to hear from any other companies or individuals who have a similar interest in the field of work that we do, especially if you are good at fund-raising, too!

And, of course, please continue to watch this space...!
